Will Chris Martin pay for $45,000 in bills the owner of Super 8 Motel wants him to pay for stays that haven't paid for the minor league basketball team he wanted in the city?
Perhaps a more current question is will Martin and city officials release the emails between himself and the basketball league and/or the motel owner. A formal request was made to the city last month, but City Attorney Kelly Leeman notified Dave Kitchell that the emails were turned over to the city's insurance carrier for its review, presumably to determine if the carrier would pay Logansport's expenses alleged by the motel owner.
Under the Indiana Open Records Law, the city has to make the mayor's emails available, but so far, that hasn't happened.
This isn't the first time Martin has had problems with transparency. The city transparency portal, the first of its kind in the state and one similar to one in use in Kokomo, was taken offline. No reason was given for it, and no information that was on the portal is provided on the city's Web site.
These controversies are among the reasons why more than 32 dozen Logansport residents have signed this petition demanding his resignation.
We appreciate your support for the petition and ask that you sign it. If you already have, please share it with friends.
Thank you again for your support and your concern for Logansport's future.
