What did Chris Martin do when he negotiated a reported sponsorship agreement with a minor league basketball team and the Super 8 Motel that is now at the focus of a potential lawsuit against Logansport?

That's what a formal public records request filed Friday in the Logansport Clerk-Treasurer's Office may determine. Last month, the motel's attorney approached the Logansport City Council, indicating the city owes the motel more than $46,000 for player rooms used by the minor league basketball team Martin already has supported with more than $50,000 in his own city discretionary funding, Council members have indicated they will not allocate any further funding for the team.

If Martin did negotiate a sponsorship agreement on the city's behalf, he, not the league, may be on the hook for the $46,000 tab. Deputy Mayor Jacob Pomasl said it is the league's issue, not the city's, but if that's the case, why didn't the league negotiate the sponsorship agreement?

That's what the emails may reveal. Or, they may become the local version of the Epstein files.
