The announcement that the most iconic restaurant in Logansport is closing for the second time in the Martin Administration has renewed calls for him to resign.

Amelio's, which has been at the corner of Fifth and East Melbourne for generations, is closing its doors. This, despite claims from the mayor funded by the state party claiming he brought 70 businesses to the city during his first term. However, Mr. Happy Burger, China Lane, Shively's Barbecue, Lin's downtown and other businesses have closed.

The mayor's only commitment to downtown has involved the construction of restrooms, and even that was controversial. He converted the Iron Horse Museum at Fourth and Melbourne into public restrooms.

Since then, the city is now facing legal action from the owner of the Super 8 Motel who is seeking more than $46,000 in damages for bills Martin's project, the Iron Horse minor league basketball team, rang up while staying at the motel for months during the season. Martin did not attend a June city council meeting where the attorney for the motel appeared.

These embarrassing times for our city have led 300 verified Logansport residents to sign this petition demanding his resignation and the appointment of a professional trained city manager to serve in his place, just as many progressive American cities have done.
