As of Thursday, July 10, the petition drive demanding Mayor Chris Martin's resignation has climbed to a new high.

Three-hundred Logansport residents have signed the petition, with many signatures coming in the past two weeks since the Pharos-Tribune reported that an attorney for a Logansport motel is seeking $46,000 it is owed for rooms furnished to the Iron Horses basketball team. Mayor Martin did not attend a meeting last month after the story was reported.

While the city has maintained it is a league issue and has nothing to do with the city, the Pharos-Tribune reported that Martin negotiated a sponsorship package with the owner of the Super 8 Motel. Martin had already spent an estimated $50,000 of his city discretionary funds to promote the team.

While some are wondering why Martin has reversed his decision not to run and now says he will run for a third term in 2027, it is apparent that 300 citizens not only would not vote for him again, but they want him to leave office now.

We invite you to sign and share this petition, as yet another downtown Logansport restaurant, the legendary Amelio's, has announced it will be closing its doors for good. This is the second time the restaurant has been closed during the Martin administration, joining China Lane, Mr. Happy Burger, Shively's Barbecue and Lin's downtown location.

Please sign and share, and thank you for caring for our community. Have a great Friday.
