In case you missed tonight's Logansport City Council meeting, the issues continue to be apparent.

Councilman Dave Morris made it known he was not happy that in the clerk-treasurer's absence, the council meeting room was not prepared for the meeting. The primary problem was that microphones for the mayor and council members were not working. One of Clerk-Treasurer Pearson's deputies, a former city councilman himself, said he would do his best to make sure the minutes of the meeting were accurate.

Morris and Councilman Scott Peattie both voiced their concerns about the lack of police enforcement of state and local laws against the use of golf carts on city streets. Peattie said he has contacted police about the problem, but he has been told that it has to be reported when seen. Peattie said he's concerned with the number of golf carts crossing High and North streets without stopping.

City Attorney Kelly Leeman weighed in saying that there is an ordinance limiting motorized vehicles operated by drivers over a certain age. Mayor Martin did not comment on the issue.

As the city faces a potential lawsuit over the Super 8 Motel bill totaling more than $46,000, a recent Logansport graduate expressed his dissatisfaction with Mayor Martin and his handling of the controversy. Justin Snay made his comments in a Facebook post.

As we pause to appreciate our independence and those who stood up for democracy 249 years ago, we again ask you to sign and share our petition calling for the mayor's resignation.

Thank you for caring for our community. Best of luck to all our 4-H'ers.
