As Logansport neighborhoods continue to see fliers from the Ku Klux Klan floating around, and Mayor Chris Martin has yet to stand up to the influence of the notorious organization that has targeted our city. His contention: The city needs "help" because it is overwhelmed with Haitian immigrants.

Not an opinion shared by Gov. Eric Holcomb who like Martin is a Republican.

To be clear, there are many reasons why people who have signed the petition want to see another mayor, but even at that, if you are a mayor of any city, do you want to stand by and watch the Ku Klux Klan mention your city in fliers? Can you not stand up and defend the city and tell the Klan that they are not welcome in Logansport, even if they think immigrants shouldn't be.

Logansport is facing a leadership crisis, and its operations are being led by the people who led it before Martin was mayor and likely will be there after he is, unless frustration with his lack of commitment to the job is so frustrating that they leave the city's employ.

For the sake of decency in our community and concerns that the image the Klan has projected on the community are detrimental to our reputation and our ability to attract and retain quality jobs and citizens, the time to sign this petition is now. We love the Light Up Logansport Parade, but we don't want a torch light parade like those the Klan has had before.

Join us in standing up for the better angels in Logansport and not the angels from the dark side of society. Please sign our petition and send a message that Logansport is not a racist city and is not a place for racists to rally. Thank you for standing up for decency and Logansport's reputation.
