Today, Logansport families and their many family members and friends who have returned to share the holiday celebrate the day Pilgrims, our original immigrants, sat down with Native Americans to share a feast.
Today, many immigrant families living in Logansport have fled their warring homeland only to face discrimination here from a mayor who claimed his city needed help, just before Gov. Eric Holcomb said Logansport is not being overrun or overwhelmed.
It's been an embarassing year for Logansport, and many of us are thankful that it has not been worse -- this in a city where Martin's primary supporter was the principal fund-raiser for a statue in Heritage Park honoring immigrants.
Please join us in another American tradition -- petitioning for change -- which is part of our Constitution. Sign our petition digitally, or contact me if you'd like to sign a paper version.
The immigration issue alone is not the only reason for the petiution. Logansport's future is.
May you enjoy every blessing of this day. We're thankful for the citizens who care about our community and each other.
