Petition for Redress of Grievances Regarding Phillip Njoroge's Unprofessional Conduct

The Issue

Petition Overview:

We, the undersigned students enrolled in ACCT 6260 Managerial Analytics at University of Colorado (Denver), are expressing our collective concerns regarding the unprofessional conduct of Professor Phillip Njoroge. Our educational experience has been compromised due to unresponsiveness, inaccurate information in assignments, the absence of a complete syllabus, and the last-minute introduction of assignments not listed in the syllabus. We believe it is crucial to bring these issues to the attention of the university administration for a fair and timely resolution.

Petition:

Dear University of Colorado (Denver) Administration,

We, the undersigned students enrolled in ACCT 6260 Managerial Analytics at University of Colorado (Denver), express our collective concern and dissatisfaction with the unprofessional conduct of Professor Phillip Njoroge. Our educational experience has been marred by the following issues:

  1. Unresponsiveness to Communication: Professor Phillip Njoroge has consistently ignored our emails, hindering our ability to seek clarification on course content and assignments.
  2. Inaccurate Information in Assignments: Assignments provided by Professor Phillip Njoroge have contained inaccuracies, jeopardizing the quality of our learning and academic performance.
  3. Failure to Provide a Complete Syllabus: Professor Phillip Njoroge has not provided us with a complete syllabus, impeding our understanding of the course structure and expectations.
  4. Last-Minute Introduction of Assignments: Professor Phillip Njoroge has introduced assignments last minute, not included in the syllabus, causing undue stress and disrupting our academic planning.
  5. Overall Unprofessional Conduct: Students have observed unprofessional behavior from Professor Phillip Njoroge, including bias against certain students and a complete lack of care for our education, negatively impacting the learning experience.

Unacceptability of Conduct in a High-Cost Class:

This kind of unprofessional conduct is particularly unacceptable in a class that incurs a substantial cost of over $2,000 per student. Students expect a high standard of education commensurate with the financial investment made, and the current situation falls short of those expectations.

Petition Demands:

We, the undersigned, respectfully request the following actions:

  1. Immediate Investigation: We urge the university to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged unprofessional conduct of Professor Phillip Njoroge, considering communication records, assignment feedback, syllabus provision, and other relevant documentation.
  2. Passing Grade for All Students: In light of the challenges posed by Professor Phillip Njoroge's unprofessional conduct, we request that all students currently enrolled in ACCT 6260 Managerial Analytics be granted a passing grade. Another option we would accept is grades based on the Labs only, excluding the Final Exam, as we have not been properly prepared for it and it's currently set at 50% of our grade. This alternative approach would ensure a fair evaluation of our understanding of the course material.
  3. Credit for Future Semester: To compensate for the time and resources wasted, we propose that affected students be granted the opportunity to take another Accounting course in the upcoming semester with waived tuition fees.

Petition Conclusion:

We believe that addressing these issues will contribute to maintaining the high standards of education at University of Colorado (Denver). We appreciate your attention to this matter and anticipate a fair and just resolution.
