The Issue

What?

We aim to enhance the Kingsbury environment by improving the appearance, attitude, accountability, and achievements of the student body, staff, and teachers, while encouraging positivity. We want to achieve this by providing insight to our faculty on what students wish to improve in our school. We must work together to have our voice heard! Our first step would be the bathrooms. Many stalls have broken doors or missing locks, making students uncomfortable using the restroom. The bathrooms should have working locks on each stall, to ensure student privacy and security, increased length of stall walls and doors, fix the faucets of faulty sinks, and more frequent and thorough cleaning of the bathrooms, as well as keeping toiletries stocked, in an effort to improve the school environment and bring comfort and cleanliness to the student body. Hallways should be decorated monthly with themed decor corresponding to each month's holidays or events, they should be repainted to represent better shades of the school's colors, and paint visual murals outside classes to represent their subjects, as well as get rid of the AI generated artwork, as it is distasteful and hypocritical. We should also have murals of the diversity of this school in order for people to feel welcomed and accepted.

Why?

To better the school environment, to improve the quality of life for students, to make students excited and willing to attend school, to keep the school hygienic, to maintain students physical health and safety. The improvement of the school environment will lead to better health. It will increase student attendance and behavior / attitude, this includes improving the teacher's work environment and decreasing stress levels. Students will be more excited about learning and teachers will be excited to teach the students. Students will be able to acquire more information about the subject that they are learning in a mentally stimulating and beneficial manner. Signing this petition will create an initiative to have teachers touch up on their job skills. Right now, Kingsbury's state is horrible, because the restrooms have a gritty environment, the hallway reminds students of an office, and the advertisement doesn't pop out as much. Signing this petition will guarantee a place where students will be happier and enjoy themselves. Furthermore, this petition will allow you to have better access to the bathrooms and privacy. Students focus better in class when they aren’t distracted by needing to find a clean restroom or feeling uncomfortable using the school’s facilities. This will not only help your emotions and behavior but also make you want to attend school due to the better environment. Students will return to class faster.

How?

We will make a better image for our school, let people know we are a great school like the others. The idea of a Kingsbury student will make people feel proud to endorse events and students at Kingsbury. We will demand a decrease to building gloominess, and attempt to make workloads for teachers fairer and easier to manage. We will strive for better ratings from parents, teachers, and students. We will also demand improvements to ADA & Accessibility (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines to our restrooms by increasing the size of stalls (5 inches wider) for wheelchair users with bars for assistance, and more reliable maintenance on elevators, removing the lockers from the hallway to create a wider hallway. After we achieve 500 signatures we plan to write a letter to the school principal, school board, and potentially the government with enclosed pictures of the poor state of our school. This will help raise awareness of the bad, unsanitary, conditions of our school and bring support to our cause.
