To: The HOA Board, City Officials, and Traffic Safety Department

We, the undersigned residents of the neighborhood, are requesting that a permanent traffic-calming and safety solution be implemented at both the front and back entrances of our neighborhood especially Acacia, Avocet and Windsong Pkwy streets. 

Our neighborhood has become increasingly impacted by cut-through traffic, excessive speeding, and unsafe driving.

Drivers are using our residential streets as a shortcut to Teel Road via Avocet. Now that school has started, we’re seeing an increase in drivers cutting through the interior streets of the neighborhood to reach the bridges and access Teel Road. The drivers are treating them like a race track rather than residential streets where families, children, pedestrians, and cyclists should be able to safely travel.

In front of Moseley Middle School,  every day residents witness children being placed in dangerous situations, including nearly being struck by vehicles. We also regularly observe drivers running stop signs, speeding through the area, and failing to exercise the caution required near a school and residential neighborhood. These ongoing incidents demonstrate the urgent need for permanent traffic-safety measures.

This is no longer simply an inconvenience for residents. It is a safety concern.

We are asking that the appropriate parties work together to identify and implement a permanent solution that will:

• Deter vehicles from using our neighborhood as a cut-through route.
• Reduce excessive speeding throughout the neighborhood.
• Improve safety for children walking, biking, and playing in the neighborhood.
• Protect pedestrians, cyclists, and other residents.
• Address unsafe traffic patterns at both the front and back of the neighborhood.
• Provide a long-term solution rather than relying solely on occasional traffic monitoring or enforcement.

We appreciate the traffic monitoring and enforcement that has already been provided. However, residents believe that temporary or intermittent enforcement alone is not enough to resolve the underlying problem. A permanent traffic-calming measure or other appropriate solution is needed to change driver behavior and prevent this issue from continuing.

We are asking the HOA Board and appropriate city officials to review the traffic conditions firsthand and work with residents to determine and implement an effective permanent solution.

We respectfully ask that our concerns be taken seriously and that action be taken before a serious accident or injury occurs.
