There have been many concerns regarding female hockey with the Northeast Minor Hockey Association raised via social media and other forms of communication where answers have not been provided in full.

Other parents like me would like the opportunity to have our voices heard and ensure that the entire board is understanding our concerns. Particularly considering that there have been significant changes to female programming within the girl’s metro hockey league with the elimination of AA in DJHL and the elimination of double carding and how these factors impact female hockey.

Without an acting female director for NEMHA, I am concerned that females do not have fair representation within your executive board and that there is no form of communication between NEMHA and the girl’s metro hockey league which is concerning for u11-u18 players.

Other concerns include inequitable ice time and practice allocation compared to those in mixed.

I am requesting signatures to petition the NEMHA Executive Board for a public meeting with all members to discuss concerns about female hockey. As per the NEMHA constitution article 10-#5, 15 signatures are required to enable this.

I will pass these signatures along in an email to the NEMHA Board to formally request the meeting.
