To the Board of Directors of Harrington Little League:

We, the undersigned members, parents, coaches, volunteers, and supporters of Harrington Little League, respectfully submit this petition requesting that the current Little League President, Tina Hastings, not be reinstated for another term.

This request is not personal in nature, but rather based on ongoing concerns regarding leadership effectiveness, communication, organization, accountability, and the overall operation of the league. Over the course of the last several seasons, repeated issues have negatively impacted players, families, coaches, and the reputation of our league, even forcing players and families to join leagues outside of their hometown.

Examples of these concerns include, but are not limited to:

Failure to schedule umpires in advance, resulting in game delays and cancellations.
Failure to prepare and distribute registration flyers to local schools, while neighboring leagues successfully promoted their programs within our community.
A noticeable decline in registration numbers compared to previous seasons.
Repeated failure to complete agreed-upon tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner.
Lack of proactive communication and follow-through regarding league operations.
An ongoing pattern of avoiding accountability when issues are brought forward by parents, coaches, and volunteers.

Our league depends on strong, organized, and responsive leadership to ensure that our children have a positive and successful baseball and softball experience. Unfortunately, many members of the league no longer feel confident in the current leadership’s ability to effectively manage league operations and address concerns appropriately.

We believe new leadership is necessary to restore trust, improve organization and communication, increase participation, and move the league in a more positive direction for the benefit of all players and families.

Additionally, this is the second occasion in which Tina Hastings has resigned from the position and later sought reinstatement into league leadership. At this time, there are serious concerns regarding the transparency of the reinstatement process, as efforts are reportedly being made to address this matter during a closed board meeting without allowing the parents, coaches, volunteers, and league members directly affected by these decisions the opportunity to attend, provide input, or voice their concerns. Given the significant impact leadership decisions have on the operation and future of the league, we believe the process should be conducted openly, fairly, and with consideration of the community’s perspective.

We respectfully ask the Board to carefully consider these concerns during the leadership selection process and to appoint leadership that demonstrates accountability, reliability, communication, and commitment to the league’s success.
