Petition for Ky Fish & Wildlife to make Pulaski Co. a no Elk hunting County

The Issue

As an hunter and conservationist I have seen firsthand the beauty and majesty of Elk in our adjoining Counties. These magnificent creatures are again thriving in the areas that they are protected. However, some of the Elk are moving into Pulaski Co and they are not protected from hunting during Deer season.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife has done commendable work in managing Elk populations in southeast Ky. Yet, there is a pressing need for more targeted efforts towards protecting elk in Pulaski County. The county's southern and eastern areas provide ideal habitats for these animals to thrive if given adequate protection.

According to data from Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, there were approximately 13,100 elks statewide as of 2019 (source: Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation). We believe that by designating Pulaski County as a protected area specifically for elk, we can contribute significantly towards increasing this number.

We urge the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife to recognize this urgent need and take immediate action. By doing so, we would not only be preserving an essential part of our natural heritage but also ensuring that future generations can enjoy witnessing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Please join us by signing this petition today! Let's give elk a chance to prosper within our county!
