PETITION FOR INCREASED PUBLIC SAFETY AND PROTECTION FOR RESIDENTS OF MIDDLETOWN, OHIO

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens, respectfully submit this petition to demand immediate and meaningful action to address the escalating violence in the City of Middletown.

On January 11, 2026, a senior citizen resident of Middletown was inside her home when it was shot approximately 50 times, with bullets narrowly missing her. This was not an isolated disturbance—it was a life-threatening act of extreme violence that could have resulted in the loss of an innocent life.

This incident highlights a broader and ongoing concern: Middletown’s high and persistent crime rate, which has left residents—especially seniors, families, and vulnerable individuals—living in fear inside their own homes.

No resident should have to fear being killed while sitting in their own living room.

  • We Are Demanding the Following Immediate Actions:
  • Increased Police Patrols
  • Especially in high-crime neighborhoods and during high-risk hours.
  • Targeted Investigations and Arrests
  • Swift and thorough investigation into this shooting and other violent crimes, with transparent updates to the community.
  • Enhanced Protection for Seniors and Vulnerable Residents
Including safety checks, emergency response prioritization, and crime prevention outreach.
  • Gun Violence Prevention Measures
  • Community-based violence interruption programs, collaboration with state and federal agencies, and enforcement of existing laws.
  • Improved Community Communication
Regular public updates, town halls, and clear safety plans so residents know what is being done to protect them.
  • Long-Term Crime Reduction Strategy
A comprehensive plan addressing repeat violent offenses, illegal firearms, and neighborhood safety.
  • Our Message Is Clear: Enough is enough.
Fifty bullets fired into a home is not “normal crime.” It is a crisis.

We demand that city leadership treat this as the emergency it is and take immediate, visible, and sustained action to protect the people of Middletown—before another innocent resident is injured or killed.

We Stand United For:
Safety
Accountability
Justice
The right to live without fear
