Petition for Improved Campus Drainage Systems at the University of the Bahamas

The Issue

We, the concerned students of the University of the Bahamas, have initiated this petition with the aim of addressing a critical issue that affects our campus environment and daily lives. The purpose of this petition is to persuade the university administration to prioritize the installation of better drainage systems throughout our campus.

The University of the Bahamas is our second home, where we gather to learn, grow, and develop into future leaders. However, inadequate drainage systems have been causing significant disruptions and inconveniences on our campus. Every time it rains, we face issues such as flooding, waterlogged walkways, and impassable roads, which hinder our ability to move around safely and comfortably.

Why It Matters:

Safety Concerns: The current drainage problems pose safety risks to students, faculty, and staff. Slippery surfaces and flooded areas increase the chances of accidents, leading to injuries.

Academic Disruptions: Flooding can disrupt classes, exams, and research activities, negatively impacting our educational experience. We deserve an environment conducive to learning.

Health and Hygiene: Stagnant water can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other disease vectors, posing health risks to the campus community.

Campus Aesthetics: Frequent flooding diminishes the aesthetic appeal of our campus, affecting the overall ambiance and pride we take in our university.

Please join us in this endeavor by signing this petition and helping us bring about positive change on our beloved campus. Together, we can make the University of the Bahamas a safer, more resilient, and better place to learn and thrive.
