Petition for Grad Walk @ New York University, Tandon School of Engineering

The Issue

We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the decision made by the New York University, Tandon school of engineering administration regarding the graduation ceremony. We believe that every graduate deserves a proper recognition of their hard work and dedication, and that the proposed plan falls short of this expectation.

While we understand that time constraints are a concern, we do not agree that displaying graduates' names and photos on a screen is an acceptable alternative to crossing the stage. This approach does not provide graduates with the opportunity to celebrate their achievements with their peers and loved ones in a traditional and meaningful way.

We urge the school administration to reconsider this decision and find a more inclusive and equitable solution that honors each graduate's achievement. We suggest exploring alternative options, such as hosting multiple ceremonies or utilizing an outdoor venue, to ensure that every graduate has the opportunity to cross the stage and receive the recognition they deserve.

We believe that a graduation ceremony is a significant milestone in a student's life and should be celebrated with dignity and respect. We hope that the school administration will take our concerns seriously and make the necessary changes to ensure that the upcoming ceremony is a memorable and meaningful experience for all graduates.
