Petition for Financial Relief: Restore Seven-Installment Fees for Teesside University

Petition for Financial Relief: Restore Seven-Installment Fees for Teesside University
The Issue
Introduction:
We, the undersigned, are students of the esteemed Petroleum Engineering program at Teesside University. As a united group, we write to express our collective concern and seek support from the university's financial department regarding a recent change in the fee installment schedule. Last year, we successfully managed a seven-installment plan, which allowed us to balance our finances and concentrate on our academic pursuits without unnecessary financial stress.
The Impact:
This year, however, we find ourselves facing an unprecedented challenge that has disrupted our academic focus and well-being. The university has transitioned to a three-installment fee plan, requiring payments within three consecutive months. This abrupt shift has placed an immense burden on us, impacting our ability to concentrate on our studies.
Financial Stress:
The sudden change has left many of us struggling to make ends meet. Juggling tuition fees, accommodation costs, and daily living expenses within a mere three months is an enormous financial strain. It forces some of us to work long hours outside of our demanding academic commitments, which, in turn, affects our academic performance and overall well-being.
Academic Distraction:
The financial stress caused by this change has disrupted our academic pursuits. Instead of focusing on our coursework, projects, and research, we find ourselves constantly preoccupied with the pressure of impending payments. This situation is counterproductive to our education and our future prospects in the petroleum engineering field.
Request for Action:
We acknowledge that universities must manage their financial operations efficiently, but we implore Teesside University's financial department to consider the unique challenges faced by petroleum engineering students. We kindly request the following:
- Revert to the Seven-Installment Schedule: Restore the seven-installment fee plan, which has worked effectively in the past, allowing us to manage our financial commitments more comfortably.
- Alternative Financial Assistance: If reverting to the previous schedule is not feasible, we ask the university to explore alternative financial assistance options, such as scholarships, grants, or emergency funds, to alleviate the immediate financial stress on petroleum engineering students.
Closing Remarks: We, the petroleum engineering students of Teesside University, are committed to our education and future in the energy industry. By addressing our financial concerns, the university can help us reach our full potential and contribute to the field's growth. We kindly request your understanding and support in this matter.
We thank you for your attention and look forward to a swift resolution that will allow us to thrive academically and professionally.
