Petition for fairer fossicking laws in Queensland.

The issue

I am seeking to petition the dept of mining to allow water pumps for use with fossicking. As it stands, the law is unclear, confusing, and unfair for prospecting enthusiasts; it is currently illegal, despite very unclear legislation, to use water pumps or small machinery such as highbankers to process material collected using shovels and other hand tools. The prospecting community has been unfairly targeted by these strict rules with no clear environmental benefit or reasonable excuse for these rules to exist. As such, I, on behalf of all prospecting enthusiasts and those who sign this petition, hereby demand that common sense and fairness be applied to the current laws, and that the use of small machinery such electrical or fuel powered water pumps, highbankers, and mechanical vacuums meant for the collection and processing of material by fossicking licence holders be made legal.

Changing these laws would have no measurable environmental impact, no negative social impact, and will let prospecting enthusiasts such as myself to do what we love legally.
