Why this petition matters

Started by Lynette Salazar

Danny Manoi has been incarcerated now for 27 years. As his mother I have seen both internal and external changes. Today he has overcome selfish behavior by living a life of selflessness through self compassion, self control, empathy, and by removing his defective beliefs of worthlessness. He now nurtures kindness, encouragement, patience, and compassion, which helped to change his attitude completely.

Over the years I've seen significant growth. Danny graduated California State University for his courses in Waste Water Management and received his (certificates, degree). He obtained advanced skills in Waste Water Treatment, he completed dog training class and participated in the shelter dogs program, and much more.

I am now 71 years old I don't know how much more time I have left, it would be a blessing to be able to see my son a free man.

My son Danny has completed all that the Department of Corrections require and sill continues to attend self-help groups, AA, NA, CGA meetings. He has been incarcerated nearly 30 years for his offence. It's time for Danny to come home. He is ready to give back to society and live life as a law abiding citizen.

My son has demonstrated genuine remorse by changes he has made in his life. He recently went to court and took responsibility and confessed to the crime in order to give the victim's family closure. The judge was so moved by his confession and all that Danny has been able to accomplish while incarcerated, the judge gave him 12 years off his sentence which was the maximum that he could reduce. So I asked for your support by signing this petition and helping our family in obtaining his release.

New government House bills are being considered. the house bill 1169 which allows a person who received gun enhancement added to their sentence, to seek resentencing. Also our state has already passed Senate Bill  6164, which gives prosecutors now the discretion to seek resentencing so long as that person's sentence no longer advances the interest of justice.

I ask for your help and your support to not only bring my son home. But help others like him receive a second chance at life, after they have proven genuine change in their lives.

Thank you for all you support.
