Petition for Change in Flint Hills Christian School Board Leadership

The Issue

Dear Flint Hills Families,

It has come to our attention that our school will be losing 40% of its administration going into the 2024/2025 school year due to lack of support and hostility from some of our current long standing elected board officials. With enrollment at an all time low and lack of urgency to address these matters our current board has failed our school. With the planned introduction of closed door Board Meetings on the horizon many parents feel matters will only get worse.

As parents and members of Flint Hills Christian School community, we hereby submit this petition to express our concerns and demand a change in the current leadership of the school board, specifically Donna Cranford, Jennifer Foveaux, Jenni Huxel, Bethany Smith and Joe Dillon. In light of recent resignations and declining enrollment, it has become evident that the current board is out of touch with the needs and voices of parents, students, and faculty.

The lack of responsiveness from the current board leadership to the concerns raised by the community has led to a breakdown in trust and an inability to effectively address the challenges facing our school. We believe that it is imperative to relieve the current board of their duties and initiate a transparent process to elect a new board that is committed to representing the best interests of our school and its stakeholders.

Specifically, we call for the following actions:

Relief of Current Board: We demand the immediate removal of the current school board leadership members from their positions of authority.
Transparent Selection Process: We urge the establishment of a transparent and inclusive process for reviewing all board applications and electing a new board that reflects the diversity and values of our community.
Implementation of Bylaws: We advocate for the implementation of bylaws that ensure board members serve no more than three consecutive years and mandate that they have a student or family member currently enrolled at the school, thereby ensuring a direct stake in the well-being and success of our educational institution.

We believe that these actions are necessary to restore accountability, transparency, and trust in the governance of our school. By prioritizing the voices and concerns of parents, students, and faculty, we can work together to chart a positive path forward for Flint Hills Christian School.

We respectfully request that you consider our petition and take swift action to address our concerns. We plan to present this petition to the board in person at the next board meeting. We encourage all families to attend so we can support our hard working administrators and help our students continue to receive a Christian education.
