Utah NICA has prevented Region Two from racing the new Snowbasin Course. As fellow NICA racers, we believe this decision does not uphold NICA's stated commitment to inclusion and equity. NICA's own pledge is that they are "committed to fair treatment, equal access, opportunity, advancement, and elimination of barriers to encourage participation for all". By excluding region two from racing at the new Snowbasin course, NICA has denied many regions' athletes access to an opportunity afforded to others, without a clear justification that benefits all racers equally. We recognize and deeply appreciate the work and dedication that trail crews and fellow trail users have invested in building this course. Our concern is not with their effort, but with a decision that we believe runs counter to NICA's core values, the values we hold as members of this community. We respectfully ask that NICA reverse this decision and allow all Regions to race at the new Snowbasin course.
