Petition for a Safer and Quieter Community on Londonderry Road
The issue
We are calling on our community to come together to create a safer and quieter environment for our families. Londonderry Road, which runs through our towns center has been a safety concern for some years due to the speeding that occurs daily.
As many of you know, this road sees vehicles, including cars and trucks, exceeding the 60KPH speed limits daily, some reaching 100 km/h during late night and early mornings. This not only increases noise pollution but also poses a serious threat to the safety of our families. Many of us have children who enjoy walking to the park, riding bikes, and playing in our neighborhood parks. I have personally witnessed near-misses at the zebra crossing outside our local school out of school hours.
In early 2023, reports indicated an increase in pedestrian fatalities in NSW compared to previous years, with speeding often highlighted as a contributing factor.
It's time to take action. I will be proposing the installation of speed cameras along Londonderry Road outside of the school to our local government.
These cameras can help:
*Detect speeding vehicles.
*Monitor unregistered or vehicles of interest.
*Enhance safety, especially in our school zone.
*Generate revenue that can be reinvested into our community.
As taxpayers, we have the power to advocate for change and ensure our voices are heard. By signing this petition, you are supporting a movement for a safer environment where our children can grow up free from the dangers of speeding traffic.
Together, let’s make Londonderry Road a safer and quieter place for all families.
