Kia ora everyone,

Thank you so much for signing the petition for a motion of no confidence in the current NZNO Board.

We have been totally inspired by the outpouring of support from our fellow members for this effort to take back our union.

You have exceeded our most hopeful expectations. The threshold needed for the petition to trigger a Special General Meeting of NZNO – 1 percent of financial members (currently 514 people) – was reached in less than 12 hours.

Together we have even made the news: https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/121426579/former-new-zealand-nurses-organisation-presidents-call-for-dissolution-of-board

After reaching the threshold so quickly, we have decided to keep the petition open. We want to give as many NZNO members as possible a voice in this call for change.

We also want NZNO decision-makers to know that the insistence on reclaiming our union is widely and deeply felt. The louder we are the harder it is to deny our call for an all-member vote.

We are already showing we are no small group. Can you help by sharing the petition and encouraging other NZNO members to sign?

And if there’s one more thing we could ask, would you be able to put your 8-digit NZNO membership number in the comments box, if you haven’t already? This will make sure that your signature counts.

The way to do this, after signing the petition, is to:

  1. Go back to the petition by clicking this link: http://chng.it/QV6XZGHL
  2. Click “Log in” at the top right. There is no need to create a new account – there’s an option to log in using an existing Facebook or Google account
  3. Scroll down to where it says, “Reasons for signing”
  4. Type your 8-digit membership number into the box. Thirty seconds – done!

For those who prefer not to sign online, a printable petition form which can be scanned and emailed back is available at: http://tiny.cc/sfxkoz

Together we are strong. We’re the people we have been waiting for – a force for a new NZNO that upholds our professionalism and fights for our collective interests.

Kia kaha!
