Call for an Immediate Review of Ark Alexandra Academy’s Disciplinary Policy and Culture

As parents and carers, we are deeply concerned about the current disciplinary policies and practices at Ark Alexandra Academy. We believe urgent action is required to address the following issues:

1. Impact on Children’s Mental Health and Learning Experience. The extreme and punitive nature of the school’s disciplinary policies is having a detrimental effect on children’s mental health, undermining their ability to enjoy learning and thrive in a supportive environment.
2.  Unacceptable Leadership Attitudes. We are appalled by what we perceive as [Redacted] authoritarian and overly aggressive approach to discipline, which is not conducive to fostering a respectful or nurturing school culture.
3.  Unfair Detentions and Lack of Transparency. We are frustrated with the widespread reports of children being unfairly punished through detentions and suspensions. We demand an immediate review of the criteria used by teachers to issue these punishments. The disciplinary system must be transparent, consistent, and fair.

We call on the school and ofsted, to conduct a thorough review of its disciplinary policies and culture, to ensure the wellbeing and fair treatment of all pupils.

What is at stake?

If these issues are not addressed, the consequences will be severe. Some families have already moved their children to different schools, while many more are seriously considering doing the same to shield their children from the harmful effects of the current disciplinary culture.

Likewise, prospective parents are increasingly discouraged from applying to Ark Alexandra Academy, undermining the school’s reputation and future. 

Our community deserves a local school that can achieve excellence without sacrificing our children’s happiness and wellbeing. 

Additionally, the leadership style demonstrated by [Redacted] creates an unhealthy school environment, setting a damaging example for our children about how authority and respect should be practiced.
