Petition for a Fair and Feasible End-Semester Exam Schedule

Petition for a Fair and Feasible End-Semester Exam Schedule
The Issue
Dear FY Students,
As we approach the end of our first semester, many of us are facing genuine academic challenges that could impact our performance in the upcoming examinations. Before we send a formal request to the authorities, it is important that we come together as a batch and present a united, reasonable, and well supported appeal.
Below are the key concerns affecting us all:
- Delayed Start of the Syllabus
Due to late admissions, the confusion caused by the implementation of the new CBCS structure, and the sudden reshuffling of batches after the Diwali break, a great deal of chaos and uncertainty was created among students. These disruptions significantly slowed down the pace of the syllabus and delayed its proper commencement.
- Back to Back Schedule With No Preparation Gap
The current exam dates (1 Jan - 7 Jan) are immediately after lectures ending on 31 Dec. This leaves us with no buffer time to revise, consolidate concepts, or catch up on difficult topics.
- Heavy and Challenging Syllabus
This semester’s syllabus is more extensive and difficult compared to previous years, as confirmed by faculty themselves. Without proper preparation time, many students may struggle to perform to their true potential.
- Load of Assignments and Internal Assessments
The coming weeks will also involve a significant workload of assignments and internal tests, reducing the time available for structured exam preparation.
Given these very real constraints, we believe it is fair to request the college administration to review the exam schedule and consider a postponement of at least three weeks. This adjustment would ensure that every student has a reasonable opportunity to prepare effectively — something essential for a healthy academic environment.
By signing this petition, you are simply supporting a fair, practical, and student-centric request that benefits the entire batch.
Your voice matters.
Let’s come together and present a united, respectful appeal for a manageable and equitable exam timeline.
