80% of plastic in our oceans comes from land sources and there are now 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic in our ocean - 46,000 pieces for every square mile of the ocean, weighing at about 269,000 tonnes.

"Marine scientists from the National University of Ireland (NUI) in Galway found the plastic bits in 73 percent of 233 deep-sea fish collected from the Northwest Atlantic Ocean—one of the highest microplastic frequencies in fish ever recorded worldwide."

Each year more than 300 million tons of plastic are produced globally, and 10 percent will end up in the sea. It is estimated that there is now a 1:2 ratio of plastic to plankton and it estimated that plastic will outweigh fish by 2050.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PLASTIC IS NOT SEPARATED? IT ENDS UP IN LANDFILLS AND THE OCEAN WHERE IT DOES NOT DECOMPOSE FOR 1,000 YEARS.
