Petition: Defend Democracy and Economic Stability in America
We, the undersigned, call upon the corporate leaders of America to take immediate action in defending democracy and ensuring economic stability. As stewards of industry, innovation, and financial progress, you have a responsibility to safeguard the institutions that allow businesses to thrive and protect the freedoms of the American people.
The Threat: The growing push toward authoritarian governance, exemplified by policies such as Project 2025, risks dismantling the democratic institutions that underpin our economy. A weakened democracy means eroded trust in the rule of law, a politicized regulatory environment, and growing uncertainty in the markets. These conditions threaten business confidence, capital investment, and the ability to operate in a fair and competitive landscape.
The Call to Action: To ensure the long-term stability of our economy and the democratic values that uphold it, we demand that corporate leaders take the following steps:
Publicly Defend Democratic Institutions – Use your platform to affirm the importance of free elections, an independent judiciary, and the peaceful transfer of power.
Protect Economic Stability – Advocate against policies that introduce regulatory uncertainty, discourage investment, or unfairly advantage politically connected businesses.
Support Free Press and Information Integrity – Ensure that your company does not contribute to misinformation and that your advertising dollars support credible, fact-based journalism.
Safeguard Employee Rights and Protections – Stand against policies that erode labor protections, suppress worker advocacy, or foster discrimination in the workplace.
Join Business Coalitions for Democracy – Collaborate with other corporate leaders to reinforce commitments to democratic norms and transparency in governance.
Leaders Who Can Make a Difference: We urge the following corporate leaders, among others, to take an active role in this effort:
Tim Cook (Apple)
Satya Nadella (Microsoft)
Sundar Pichai (Alphabet/Google)
Mark Zuckerberg (Meta/Facebook)
Jamie Dimon (JPMorgan Chase)
