The Issue

We, the undersigned citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia, respectfully submit this petition to express our deep concern regarding the actions and policy agenda of Governor Abigail Spanberger since assuming office.

Governor Spanberger campaigned as a pragmatic, bipartisan moderate, promising affordability, balance, and common-sense governance. However, since taking office, her administration has advanced a legislative agenda that many Virginians believe directly contradicts those campaign commitments and imposes significant financial, public safety, and constitutional concerns on the people of Virginia.

Specifically, Virginians are alarmed by her support of:

  • New taxes and tax increases that impact families, small businesses, and retirees during a time of economic strain
  • Reductions or eliminations of mandatory minimum sentences for violent and sexual crimes, raising serious public safety concerns
  • Efforts to expand taxpayer-funded programs without voter consent or fiscal transparency
  • Election-related proposals that undermine public confidence in election integrity
  • Firearm regulations and taxation that infringe upon constitutionally protected rights of law-abiding citizens
  • Policies affecting parental rights, law enforcement protections, and education content without meaningful public input

Many Virginians feel that the policies being advanced represent a progressive agenda that was not clearly disclosed to voters during the gubernatorial campaign, and therefore constitute a breach of public trust.

Our Request

We respectfully call upon the Virginia General Assembly to:

  • Hold public hearings allowing Virginians to voice concerns regarding Governor Spanberger’s agenda. Spanberger must participate in at least one of these meetings.
  • Conduct a formal legislative review to see if the governor’s use of executive orders are legal and her agenda follows the will of her constituents.
  • Consider appropriate legislative remedies, including censure, corrective legislation, or other lawful actions available under the Virginia Constitution.

This petition is not rooted in partisanship, but in the fundamental principle that elected officials are accountable to the people they serve. Transparency, honesty, and fidelity to campaign commitments are essential to a healthy republic.

We affirm our belief that Virginians deserve leadership that governs with integrity, respects the Constitution, and honors the promises made to voters.

Signature Statement

By signing this petition, I affirm that I am a resident of Virginia and support legislative review and accountability regarding the actions of Governor Abigail Spanberger.
