Petition City Council Or Alberta Government to add foxtail barley to noxious weed list
Why this petition matters

Foxtail is spread through a number of communities in Southeast Calgary - Mahagony, Copperfield, Auburn Bay, New Brighton, and possibly other communities across Calgary.
Foxtail spreads easily, is hard to get rid of, and is extremely dangerous to dogs, cats, and wildlife.

Here is a recent news article covering the issue in Calgary.
In order to ensure that the foxtail is treated quickly, we should petition Calgary's City Council or Alberta's Provincial Government to add it to the noxious weed list. Doing so would ensure that local government and private companies have to take care of them quickly and properly.
At present time, the Province has declined to pass a bylaw for all of Alberta, and has said the decision will need to be made by Calgary's City Council
The Weed Control Act determines what weeds are labeled as noxious. If we can get it added to the noxious weed list, then the City will be able to take more action on having it removed quickly and correctly.
It's a known issue and has been in the news as far back as 2016.

Even farmers have known it's a problem for years, a study performed back in 2011 looks at controlling its spread.

Foxtail is spreading because it's not being controlled correctly. We need to ask the Alberta government to take action, thus making it easier to enforce the destruction of foxtail. The removal of foxtail will make life easier for everyone and ensure the safety of our dogs, cats, and wildlife.
