The Issue

Dear Community of London/ Greater London

We, the undersigned, are calling for immediate action regarding the misuse of Lime bikes in our neighborhoods. While these bikes offer a convenient transportation option, their careless abandonment has led to significant issues that impact the safety and accessibility of our public spaces.

Lime bikes are often left in the middle of sidewalks, blocking pathways for elderly individuals, disabled residents, and parents with young children. This disregard for proper parking creates hazardous conditions that hinder mobility for those who rely on accessible pathways.

Moreover, the accumulation of these bikes contributes to chaos in our streets, damaging property and cluttering our communal areas. The ongoing mismanagement of these bikes shows a lack of accountability from the companies responsible for their operation. The clutter not only detracts from our community's aesthetics but also encroaches on limited pedestrian space.

In addition, these bikes occupy valuable public areas that could otherwise be used for car parking. Motorists, who pay for parking permits, are often unable to find adequate space due to the bikes blocking designated parking spots. This situation creates frustration among residents who comply with local parking regulations.

We urge the local councils and Government to address this issue by:

Implementing stricter regulations for the proper placement and management of Lime bikes.
Establishing a dedicated enforcement team to monitor and remove improperly parked bikes.
Encouraging community feedback to ensure the safe and responsible use of bike-sharing services.
Together, we can create a safer and more accessible environment for all residents. We ask for your support in holding Lime and similar companies accountable for the impact their services have on our community.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,

Tanisha Ellis t.ellis.90@icloud.com
