We, the undersigned residents of Ogallala and the surrounding area, hereby petition against the proposed development of the Lake Mac Casino Resort & Race Track.

Reasons for Our Opposition:

1. Impact on Community Well-Being: Casinos often bring increased crime, gambling addiction, and other social issues that can harm our community’s safety and quality of life. We believe this development could exacerbate existing problems.
2. Economic Viability: While proponents may highlight potential economic benefits, we argue that these claims are overstated. The influx of gambling revenue can negatively impact local businesses and divert funds from more sustainable economic development initiatives.
3. Traffic and Infrastructure Strain: The influx of visitors to a casino resort and racetrack will lead to increased traffic congestion and place a strain on our local infrastructure, including roads, public services, and emergency response resources.
4. Community Values and Quality of Life: Ogallala is known for its strong community ties and natural beauty. We believe the casino resort and racetrack will undermine the character and values of our town, prioritizing profit over community well-being.

We urge the Ogallala City Council to listen to the concerns of its residents and reject the proposal for the Lake Mac Casino Resort & Race Track. Our community deserves to thrive without the risks associated with this development.
