The Issue
My community and I are facing an immediate threat to us and our wildlife. They are planning to build a data center near where we live, and we want to fight back against this decision. We have always lived here with nature, cherishing the beauty of our environment, OUR public land, which is now under threat. This petition calls for the reversal of the roadless rule to ensure our lands STAY public and are not repurposed to accommodate massive data centers.
Building data centers in areas that should remain untouched is not just a local issue but a bigger concern. These centers are consumers of water, a resource that's already scarce in many parts of the world. By allowing these developments, we are jeopardizing CLEAN drinking water for our community and many others who rely on these natural resources. The construction and operation of data centers contribute significant air and noise pollution, disrupting the peace of our surroundings and, in the long term, impacting our health and well-being.
The global impact of expanding data center infrastructure cannot be overlooked. As we try to combat climate change, preserving roadless areas is more critical than ever. These regions act as vital carbon sinks, absorbing more carbon dioxide and playing an essential role in mitigating climate change. Converting these lands into industrial sites directly contradicts our years of efforts to protect the planet.
We urge local governments to reconsider the roadless rule, prioritizing the conservation of our land for public use, rather than industrial gain. We need your support to amplify our community's voice. Let’s make sure our beautiful land remains untouched and accessible for everyone to enjoy.
Please, join us in fighting for our land that we have protected for many years. Sign this petition and help spread the word. Every signature counts!!
