Hailsham, a vibrant town in East Sussex, is marred by increasing incidents of dangerous driving, excessive speeding, and anti-social noise levels. This pressing issue affects the well-being and safety of its residents. Complaints have been pouring in about drivers ignoring 30mph speed limits, loud exhausts, popping engines, and reckless behaviors like motorbike wheelies is disturbing the peace, particularly at night.

Many residents have found parking around schools to be chaotic and unsafe, endangering children and parents alike during busy school runs. The lack of clear signage and proper traffic-calming measures has further exacerbated these problems, leading to an environment where respect for road rules has diminished, and safety is no longer assured.

Repeated appeals to the local police and East Sussex County Council (ESCC) for intervention have yielded little result. The need for a coordinated and effective response from ESCC and the police has never been more urgent. We propose the installation of clearer road signage and effective traffic-calming measures to curb speeding and enhance road safety. Furthermore, targeted efforts to address and reduce anti-social noise from vehicles should be initiated.
