Ban pesticide use in Petersfield to protect public health, bees and wildlife

Dear Petersfield Town Council,
We politely ask that you discontinue all use of pesticides in Petersfield, they pose a risk to public health and also threaten wildlife. Pesticides containing glyphosate have been banned in many countries as they are considered carcinogenic. In 2015 The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) ruled that glyphosate was 'probably carcinogenic'. With many alternatives to pesticides available that include no risk to human health and wildlife we ask that these are used.
On 20th April the children's play area in Woods Meadow was sprayed with pesticides which is clearly shown in the photos. Whilst the person administering the pesticide will have been wearing protective clothing it is very possible that a child may have been exposed by playing in this area directly after it was sprayed. This is just one example of many public areas in Petersfield that are sprayed with pesticides.
We ask you not to put the public's health at risk and find alternative methods to control weeds.
