At the moment, there is one organization open for men suffering from domestic violence in Canada with three shelters operating in Ottawa, Calgary and York Region. At the same time, there are 627 shelters open for women suffering from domestic violence all across Canada. Canada gets over 400 calls from men asking for help from domestic violence but there are not enough programs to help or are too far away. This petition is to get domestic violence against men the recognition it deserves starting in Ontario so that hopefully more shelters and programs open for men and their families.
