The People started this petition to Governor Pete Ricketts

During a meeting with Governor Pete Ricketts, Mayor Jean Stothert, and Police Chief of Omaha, Nebraska about the killing of a young man, James Scurlock, by the hands of a white business owner. Pastor Jarrod Parkerwas one of many black community leaders who were invited by Gov. Ricketts to sit and discuss the issue at hand. During discourse Gov. Ricketts was quoted as saying ”...The problem I have with you people...” referring to the black community. Pastor Jarrod exited the meeting after he heard what was said. Gov. Ricketts then has released a statement stating the following, ”I chose my words poorly, and apologized when it became apparent that I had caused offense.”

I think it's quite apparent that Gov. Ricketts is unfit for the role of Governor of Nebraska. He has always gone against the people of the great state of Nebraska and even thinks of minorities as a lower-level race as shown by his remarks. It is unacceptable to continue having a racist Governor leading this state. A simple apology cannot keep him protected from justice and he must accept his wrongdoings; with him out of the role as Governor this state will be able to flourish and become a place where everyone can and will be viewed the equivalent and a place where people can express their race and culture without fear. Keeping Gov. Ricketts enables and facilitates the ideas of racism in this state and country and that's why he must be stopped as soon as possible. We cannot simply forgive rasicm and it must be irradicated for this country was built for the freedom and liberty for all, and this starts with the removal of all leaders who go against these ideas.
