Pete Hegseth: Stop Attacking Scouting America – Keep Supporting Our Future Leaders!
The Issue
Scouting America, formerly known as the"Boy Scouts", has been a cornerstone of American values for generations, providing countless young people with the opportunity to build character, develop leadership skills, and grow into responsible, compassionate adults.
Now, this beloved institution, which has opened its doors to both boys and girls, faces the threat of losing support from the Pentagon.
Pete Hegseth, a senior adviser to Defense Secretary, is lobbying to sever ties with Scouting America, claiming it is “too woke.”
This attack on an organization that has long been a partner of the military and a source of community-building for generations of young people is unjust and deeply concerning. The inclusion of girls in Scouting America should be celebrated as a step forward, not a reason for cancellation.
For decades, Scouting America has helped to foster skills, responsibility, and teamwork, enriching the lives of millions of children. Its support for military values and the nurturing of future leaders has earned the trust of our armed forces. More than 3,500 Eagle Scouts have gone on to attend prestigious military academies, contributing to our national defense. Scouting America remains a place where children of all backgrounds learn the values of integrity, respect, and service.
To abandon Scouting America now would be a disservice to the millions of young people who rely on it for guidance, mentorship, and a safe space to grow.
We urge the Pentagon to stand by Scouting America and continue its decades-long partnership. The future of our children depends on it.
