I'M SO UPSET. Petsmart stores have a new Betta display involving super-bright floodlights blasting down on the fish's little cups. I am not an expert but I do understand Bettas do not like bright light. This seems like pure torture for them, not to mention the extra stress which may cause them to be a less healthy animal for customers to purchase. Employees there say they have tried to not turn the lights on for that very purpose, but they are reprimanded by the management. This is such blatant disregard for an animal's wellbeing, I don't see how they can get away with it or how it progressed beyond the first stages of a marketing meeting. IF the company really understood or cared about the animals they sell, I don't see how this could ever have seemed like a good idea. Can anything be done?
