Permit Schools and Children’s Clubs to Utilize Tasers for Self-Defense

The Issue

We pray that all victims come out of this incident alive and well.

A sad day for Southport and the entire country. At the Hope of Hart children's club in Southport, an alarming incident has occurred. According to news reports, at least eight individuals became victims of a stabbing incident, an incident that will hit hard in the heart of victims, surrounding community, and the wider world. It is with this experience (and others around the country in recent times) that we press ahead, calling for change in our antiquated security protocols.

We must recognize the grim reality that not all public spaces are safe havens for our children. the dangers are increasing. We believe that implementing policies that allow schools and children's clubs to defend themselves using a taser stored in a locked box could help reduce these worrying trends.

With proper training, supervision, and restricted access, these tasers can deter potential aggressors and increase the safety of our children and the staff who take care of them.

We don't seek to arm every educator, but to provide a safeguard, a last line of defense should a horrific event unfold. Our children and staff deserve to study, play, and work in a safe environment. We're not seeking to change the world, only to make our little section safer.

The road is long and filled with legal and ethical debates. Still, we believe that with widespread support, we can begin to secure more robust defense mechanisms in schools and children's clubs.

Stand with us. Sign this petition. We owe it to our children to take every precaution that we can. Let's make this change possible.
