Permit Boise State 2024 Graduates to Walk on Iconic Blue Turf
The Issue
As students who graduated high school in the tumultuous year of 2020, we've already had our first graduation experience taken away from us. Now, as we approach our college graduation in 2024, we face another blow. Boise State University has decided to change the location of its graduation ceremony from the most iconic part of campus - the blue turf.
The blue turf is more than just a field; it's a symbol of our collective spirit and determination. It's where we've cheered on our Broncos and forged unforgettable memories. To deny us this rite of passage is to rob us, once again, of an essential part of our educational journey.
Boise State University prides itself on being student-centered in its decisions. Yet, this decision seems to overlook what truly matters to students - tradition, community, and recognition for their hard work.
We urge Boise State University administration to reconsider their decision and allow the class of 2024 graduates to walk on the blue turf for their commencement ceremony. This small act would go a long way in giving some closure for the graduating class that has NEVER had the privilege of getting an equal graduation experience.
Please sign this petition if you believe that traditions matter and that every graduate deserves their moment in the sun – or rather – on the blue!
