Permanent Human Trafficking Hotline Plaques at Every American Airport

Permanent Human Trafficking Hotline Plaques at Every American Airport
The Issue
What terrifies and deeply saddens me is the thought of countless people - both children and adults - being trapped in despicable conditions such as hotels, storage units, truck trailers, rental trucks, trunks, abandoned houses, underground spaces, and attics. An even scarier aspect is the fact that our airports, one of the busiest hotspots in urban infrastructure, have failed so far to bear a lasting symbol to direct these victims towards the help they desperately need.
Stickers containing the Human Trafficking Hotline number have been placed in airport bathrooms but they often get ripped off within days. This renders the whole initiative ineffective as the victims are left without a lifeline. Therefore, I propose a change: from using stickers, we should shift to placing bolted plaques with the Human Trafficking Hotline number in all American airports. While the true scale of human trafficking and modern slavery is an unknown, there are an estimated 49.6 million victims trapped in modern-day slavery. As hubs of national and international transit, airports play a key role in curbing this malignant epidemic.
Bolted plaques will serve as constant, unyielding reminders of the massive infrastructure established to fight this gross violation of human rights. It is a simple solution, yet powerful in its potential impact. Imagine a world where every trapped soul passing through an American airport gets a chance to see that plaque, a beacon of much-needed aid...
Let us make this change happen. Let us echo the cry against human trafficking across all airports in America. Sign this petition to mandate the installation of permanent Human Trafficking Hotline plaques at all American airports.
In the meantime, I encourage everyone that sees this to email bluecampaign@hq.dhs.gov about changing these stickers to bolted plaques.
