Black Friday Protest: We joined the nation for the Black Friday Pet Store Protest. We stood in front of the Perfect Puppy pet store in West Warwick and protested the sale of puppy mill puppies. NBC10 and ABC6 covered the protest. Unfortunately, Perfect Puppy's teenage supporters, employees, and family members were standing outside, doing their own "protest" and were extremely combative. One of our protesters was simply walking with his sign when they threatened, “I am going to slum you". Their dog-costumed supporter got within inches and grinded up on one of our peaceful protesters and then yelled, “I hope you get hit by a car, you stupid b%tch.” This same costumed-person then skipped down the breakdown lane in front of us and hit one of our signs. There was a former customer protesting with us, whose “perfect puppy” had JUST passed away (after four years of health problems). They told her it was probably her fault the dog died, and that he hopes her heartbroken toddler (who was also bravely protesting with us) gets sick. I was horrified when Scott, the business owner, drove by multiple times and screamed, “Go f**k yourselves,” “Maybe you need a c*ck, you f****** lesbian,” and sped through rainwater puddles to soak us. I was also stunned when Scott’s wife told us to, “Mind [our] own f#@cking business.” ... It was a threatening environment... which I think, was the purpose... They were trying to incite violence. Both NBC and ABC reporters witnessed the threatening environment, but unfortunately made no mention of it in their coverage... The news covered Perfect Puppy's retaliatory behavior... They seemed to really punish those who posted negative reviews about their business. I've attached a link to that video/article in this update. I continue to struggle with funding... I definitely can't do this alone... I need the community to move forward with me. I'm unsure about whether I will be financially able to move forward with this lawsuit, as people have stopped financially supporting it. So, I'm doing some soul-searching right now, as the State has taken no action... I see this lawsuit as the only way to hold this store accountable.
