Take your plastic back

#TAKEBACKYOURPLASTIC

In 2011, journalist, filmmaker and adventurer Craig Leeson set out to make a documentary about the elusive blue whale. While they were in The Pacific Ocean a pristine environment looking for the blue whale they found to their surprise plastic waste just floating on the surface of the water the waste had all kinds of objects made of plastic a storage crate, a slipper, a bottle, a plastic fishing net and few plastic bags they were all surprised them could not believe how could so much plastic travel to the middle of the ocean.

Plastic was invented almost a century ago and it was a wonder product. Scientists thought all of our problems could be solved. People then didn't think that it would be so difficult to get rid of plastic

Plastics are long-chain Polymers and ever since their discovery has stayed with us with a promise to stay long after we have gone.

this miraculous invention in 1907 has taken over our lives and planet completely. It is durable cheap and most importantly disposable will stop DISPOSABLE? Wait what?

Plastic being disposable is a myth.

Yes, plastic bottles, disposable plastic bags, etc. that we so nonchalantly threw away is actually going to stay there for the next 500 years. And if this thought is not daunting enough for you then let me explain how it's going to end up in your body.

Only 9% of all plastic waste ever produced has been recycled. About 12% has been incinerated, while the rest — 79% — has accumulated in landfills, dumps, or the natural environment.

So, a plastic bottle that you throw so conveniently has a very little chance of getting recycled what happens to the rest of the plastic then?

Well, some of it ends up in a landfill site. You might think that’s easy now you can easily get away with it but this is a sad mistake because the landfill site which is filled with plastic bottles and other materials secrete a harmful substance called LEACHATE.

Which is toxic not just for soil but also to the waterbodies it seeps into. It affects not only animals dwelling in the nearby water bodies and there is a likeliness that it might end up in your glass of water.

Another option is that these plastic bottles might end up in the oceans. You might think that a bottle discarded in Landlocked Delhi how can it reach the ocean? These plastic bottles reach in the oceans through rivers which are draining in it. The plastic can either settle down at the bottom or float at the surface either case there is a fair chance that it might be eaten up by some marine animal confusing it with food. There is also a possibility where the plastic might keep on floating on the surface of the water and with continuous exposure with sun's Rays and salty water lead to breakdown into small pieces which are even more dangerous and is known as MICROPLASTICS .these microplastics can easily be ingested by small fish is and enter the food chain. And on one lucky day, it might end up on your plate so next time when you enjoy your seafood be careful. In October 2018, microplastics were found in fecal samples from eight people participating in a pilot study to research how much humans might be inadvertently consuming plastic. Now, a new study in the journal Environmental Science and Technology says it's possible that humans may be consuming anywhere from 39,000 to 52,000 microplastic particles a year. When researchers from Johns Hopkins looked at the impact of eating seafood contaminated with microplastics, they too found the accumulated plastic could damage the immune system and upset a gut's balance.

These scenarios are just the tip of the iceberg to ways how the plastic is harming us

All these facts funnels to one question Is disposable plastic disposable?? Our planet is drowning in plastic.

Through this campaign, We Are urging all the manufacturers packaging their products in plastic bottles to stop producing any more new bottles and build up a system where they could collect their old bottles and use it for packaging again This initiative will cut down A lot of plastic pollution. This the cumbersome task will surely add up to saving our environment
