Require every American library to play "The Dewey Decimal Rap"

Require every American library to play "The Dewey Decimal Rap"

The Issue

"The Dewey Decimal Rap" is a song created by Mr. Scooter, a librarian who spoofs as Melvil Dewey, the historic creator of the Dewey Decimal System. The song follows Melvil Dewey as he explores the library's contents but gets lost in the disorganization, creating the Dewey Decimal System and explaining it to the audience. As Melvil Dewey explains the simplicity of the system and how it can be used to find any topic, he participates in many hip-hop style dances and entertains the audience with his engaging method of teaching.

I discovered the song in library class back when I was in the beginning grades of elementary school. I immediately fell in love with the tune, forever cherishing the name "Melvil Dewey" with my just as enamored classmates. I knew immediately that this song was a masterpiece of compositional music, rivaling even the best of Beethoven's and Mozart's works.

Unfortunately, my elementary school has stopped screening the legendary rap, robbing the next generations of the opportunity to learn about the library system and the legacy of Melvil Dewey. Melvil Dewey is a god among humans that should be recognized as such. WatchMojo has recognized Him as one of the "Top 10 Character That Could Defeat Thanos (Even With the Infinity Gauntlet)" back in 2019. His voice is all I can hear at night, along with His dances that make Fortnite's look like derogatory spasms. Because of Him, I can recite every single number in the Dewey Decimal System and remember the teachings of Supreme Melvil Dewey.

Before I get off-topic, it's important to remember that in a nutshell, not many people know about this amazing rap. It's educational, downright funny for all ages, and just plain interesting. As of the time I'm writing this, "The Dewey Decimal Rap" is only at a little less than 3,000,000 views on YouTube.

That's only 0.38% of the human population!

How can we change this? Simple: we start with America.

Require every school in the United States to screen "The Dewey Decimal Rap" to their students. We'd like this to happen in order to share the joys and teachings of Melvin Dewey to the millions of children bored with the books, to bring life back to our libraries being tarnished and forgotten in favor of eBooks. Without the unappreciated Melvil Dewey, we wouldn't have discovered our many favored tales and novels in the first place. It's time we bring the rap to as many kids as possible and bring the joy we had for libraries many years ago.

Once we succeed, we can bring this worldwide. Teach everyone how godly Melvil Dewey and his teachings truly are.

Spread the word. We can "Dewey" this together.
