Shut down SeaWorld

The Issue

While some people love going to SeaWorld to see many animals that were once wild, the fact is, these animals do not deserve to live their lives in a cage.

In the wild, Orcas swim up to 100 miles a day. The only swimming they get at SeaWorld is swimming around in circles all day. 1,900 laps in the tank equals approximately 100 miles. The constant swimming in circles leads to collapsed dorsal fins which is totally not normal. The trainers claim that this is a genetic trait such as having straight or curly hair, but that is false. Also, while being in a small cage, they tend to get more aggressive, with other animals and their trainers. Dominant whales and dolphins will scrape the skin of the less dominant animal with their teeth and this leads to rake marks.

In April, 2017, a polar bear at SeaWorld in San Diego died after her best friend of 20 years was shipped off to a zoo in Pittsburgh for breeding purposes. While in captivity, wild animals don't have the freedom to roam around in their natural habitats, and they don't have the freedom to have a lot of friends/companions. So when these two were ripped away from each other, Szenja lost everything she knew and ultimately died from it. With a lot of warning of what could happen, they still went through with the transfer. Szenja was only 21 years old when she died.

It is not right to take these beautiful wild animals away from their natural habitat from human entertainment. Lets all work together so that we can help free these animals and make sure no other animal is captured or born into this industry. They deserve to live long happy lives just like us.
