Repeal the "Ag-Gag" Bills

Repeal the "Ag-Gag" Bills
The Issue
The factory farming industry is destroying the United States, more than anything else. It is everywhere, they have animal fur in the clothing industry, found ways to put meat or pieces of animals into pounds of food. This industry uses one-third of all raw materials and fossil fuels, causes deforestation for cattle farming, and uses eighty percent of the agricultural land in the United States to feed the animals. It accounts for eighty percent of the air pollution and uses fifty percent of the water in America.
The industry largely impacts the physical health of those who eat consume animal products. Eighty percent of the pigs have pneumonia, veterinary care is rarely given, and the corn, wheat, and soy they are fed is filled with pesticides. The benefits of avoiding this industry includes; eating fewer calories and less fat, having a lower risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, lower risk of diabetes, and more. It is also healthier to avoid solid fats (eggs, meat, poultry, and high fat dairy products) and to eat oils (Seafood, nuts, and seeds) instead.
The Ag-Gag Bills have been passed in six states, it causes the sharing of any form of evidence about what is happening in Factory Farms to be illegal. These whistle-blowers go all the way back to 1906 with The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. These Bills are hiding the fact that the animals are conscious through the entire process. Humane meat can be inhumane since there is no verification necessary to claim the meat as humane. Free Range eggs means the animals are not in individual cages but they still cram thousands into the tiny space. The egg industry puts male chicks through a grinder while alive since they are not of use and any leftovers in the industry are mixed to make gelatin, an ingredient commonly used to give a gelatinous texture, which is in marshmallows and jello. In 2014, in the United States alone, 9,078,526,588 animals were slaughtered. To put that in perspective only 318,600,000 people lived in America at the time.
With the impact that this is causing, why should the Ag-Gag Bills be allowed to hide all of this? Paul McCartney said “If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian”. If it is going to continue the health decline, people should be able to see what is happening. I mean if people are what they eat, I sure would like to know what I am. What about you?
