Investigate the abuse of "Sassy" and other pets at Pet Connection of Alliance

The Issue

Sassy was slapped in the head and screamed at by an employee reportedly named Melissa Pollock in a lime green shirt with a long brown ponytail and glasses.  This abuse is unacceptable.  Calls to the store were met with indifference.

Further information has come to light which states, "I would like to provide more information about Pet Connection, but would like to remain anonymous.

I was employed there from 2007-2008 and again from 2010-2011.
The woman who hit Sassy has been there since 2000 or so. Her name is Melissa Pollock.

She smokes in the faces of the animals, screams in their faces, and makes them scream out in pain.

When I started in 2007 I was told an anecdote of how she accidentally killed a puppy.

When the "puppy room" is cleaned, the poor exercise-less dogs are put into plastic totes. Melissa Pollock thought that it would be faster to clean 2-3 cages at once and stack the plastic totes on top of each other. This led to one puppy to suffocate and die.

In the winter of 2007/2008 we had sick kittens. One had such internal damage that its organs were shutting down and spewing vile from its anus. After me, a crying 14 year-old begged the owner Ben Walter to take it to the vet across the street, it seemed like it was going to make it.

However, its health took a turn so rather than taking it to the vet again they forced me, a CHILD working a laborious job -- breaking several child labor laws I might add -- to put the dying kitten into a fish bag, tie it, and put it in the freezer.

Melissa Pollock is also the store's groomer. She is VERY abusive to the animals belonging to even other people -- so you can imagine how she is with homeless animals.

Shortly before I left in 2011, an entire litter of puppies died and there was a case of Parvo that killed at least 6 dogs. They withhold vet care.

And in 2007, when applying a "medication" to a cat's eye [who was not even ill at the time] Melissa Pollock blinded a kitten in one eye. I was allowed to take the kitten home after this, thankfully, but she only lived for about 6 more months as she'd contracted FHIV at the pet store.

They have untrained employees administering vaccinations and de-worming doses. Melissa Pollock frequently chokes puppies when administering de-wormings."

Please investigate this abuse and put a stop to it.  We would also like Pet Connection to fire the employee believed to be Melissa Pollack and make certain that all other employees are trained in the proper handling of all pets at the store.  We'd further like all animals in the store to be evaluated by a veterinarian to insure they are in proper health.
