People as Politicians

The Issue

As an American citizen and patriot, I am deeply troubled by the current state of our nation's politics. The looming shadow of corruption, greed, and self-serving motives continues to tarnish our country's laws, policies, regulations, and political interests.

This system, complex to the point of confusion, is not reflective of the values our country was built upon. It's a system that more often than not seems engineered to serve the interests of the politicians rather than those of the citizens they represent.

Therefore, it is time to change the way ALL politicians serve their country. We propose the implementation of a "jury duty" / "selective service" style call to serve in positions of office, where every citizen will be given an aptitude test at the age of 21 and subsequently every 5 years. Hearing from the people, rather than from an established political elite, will ensure our politics is truly fed by the voice of the people.

This test, administered through the DMV, would measure individuals' morals, values, and intelligence, deciding their fit to serve in an office of politics. Those who pass will be noted as "eligible to serve", a significant term that could reshape our current political landscape.

Moreover, the longevity in office should be determined by Good governance, and should not be bound by time.

This strategy would promote transparency, encourage greater civic participation, and reduce the undue influence of career politicians. It's time to brush away the cloud of confusion and complication hovering over our political system and give power back to the people.

You can stand up for this new era of democratic representation. Sign this petition for change, for fairness, for a more direct involvement of the people in our country's governance.
