Udankudi: The people of Manapadu fishing village went on a one day strike in support of the protest against the nuclear reactor in Chennai and against the sudden change of the Thoothukudi District Collector.

 The Kudankulam anti-nuclear movement had announced that a protest would be held in Chennai yesterday. Most of the fishing villagers in the coastal area had decided not to go to sea business one day as the protest was attended by people protesting against the nuclear reactor.

Accordingly, the villagers of Manappadu went on a one-day strike in support of the anti-nuclear protest in Chennai and condemned the sudden transfer of Ashish Kumar, the Thoothukudi District Collector, by the Tamil Nadu government. As a result, more than 200 boats were stranded off the coast.
