Penn & Wharton Alumni Stand with Humanity

Penn & Wharton Alumni Stand with Humanity
The Issue
Neither the University of Pennsylvania nor the Wharton School has chosen to make a public statement condemning the recent acts of terrorism in Israel. Silence at this stage equals complicity. Therefore, we must take action to demonstrate that we, the alumni, stand unequivocally with humanity and against the barbaric and violent actions of Hamas. Unlike other organizations expressing their beliefs on the matter, we are not afraid to put our names behind this.
Signing this petition is not a statement on your political views of the Israel/Palestinian conflict.
Signing this petition is a statement that you are against:
- Terrorism
- Rape
- Kidnapping
- Murdering Innocent Civilians
Below is a segment from Dean James' statement in regards to the Ukranian/Russian conflict. This statement was issued shortly after the conflict began on a myriad of highly visible channels. The school has issued similar statements in response to other movements. It is not acceptable that they selectively choose to stay silent now across key channels. Especially when they only need to adjust FOUR words.
We call upon Liz Magill (President of UPenn) and Erika James (Dean of Wharton) to issue a strong public statement. Failure to do so reflects a grave inconsistency with the values and beliefs of the student and alumni communities.

Wharton Colleagues,
Earlier this week, HAMAS violently invaded ISRAEL. Since then, the world has watched in real-time as the country suffers under a series of attacks widely criticized by leaders around the globe.
Wharton joins those condemning the atrocities happening in ISRAEL. We extend our unwavering support for the well-being of ISRAELI civilians currently under siege, as well as those who have fled the country in search of stability and safety elsewhere.
With hundreds of international students, staff, and faculty interacting on our campus daily, and thousands of alumni worldwide, Wharton is truly a global community. I am particularly sensitive to this fact as I consider the grief many of us may be feeling watching these events unfold from afar. The world’s growing interconnectivity means that instability anywhere often causes pain that extends far beyond its own borders. To operate as committed global citizens, we must illuminate the dangerous impact of such violent actions and stand in solidarity with those suffering oppression or violence at the hands of others.
